Today, Reiki is becoming as well known as other mainstream complementary therapies such as reflexology, aromatherapy and acupuncture. Reiki has been around in one form or another since the beginning of time and is a tried and tested path to health and happiness.

Dr Mikao Usui was the founder of Reiki in its present form; he was a Buddhist monk living in Japan in the 19th century between 1865-1926. Dr Usui had a keen interest in the healing arts and sciences and he had a great passion to relieve the suffering of others especially the sick. It was this drive coupled with his understanding of the body and mind that led him on a fascinating journey to re-discovering Reiki as we know it now. A simple and effective method of healing.

Reiki is a hands on healing technique for the body, mind and spirit. When a Reiki practitioner places his/her hands on or near the recipient there begins an immediate flow or transfer of ‘healing energy’. This is a wonderful thing to experience, very peaceful, very calming and very natural, a treatment lasts for one hour. When receiving Reiki the client remains fully clothed, only the shoes are removed. Healing is then applied by the laying of hands, which passes through the healer and into the reciever.
